Get to know S.T.A.R.T. Animal Rescue - Los Angeles

If you haven't already figured it out from our Instagram posts, we hold an extra special place in our hearts for all animals, from our fur-babies to those pets in need of a forever home. We strongly urge everyone to adopt whenever possible and encourage those to get involved if you can.

One organization we consider to be a standout is, recently awarded Guidestar's 2020 platinum seal of transparency, S.T.A.R.T. Animal Rescue.

Suzanna is one of the co-founders of START Animal Rescue and manages their adoptions while Maria volunteers for their home checks. If you aren't familiar with them, START Animal Rescue has saved over 10,000 pets by transporting them from California to fully vetted animal rescue groups in the Pacific Northwest. These pets come from high-kill shelters, homeless dogs from all over Los Angeles city and county, deplorable cases from Mexico, and a few dogs that escaped the horrific dog meat trade in South Korea.

START Animal Rescue also has a spay/neuter program. They help with the surgery cost for low-income households. This is the only way to prevent unwanted cats and dogs from burdening the already overpopulated animal shelters, which have an extremely high percentage rate of euthanasia.

Fun Fact: START Animal rescue had a wonderful celebrity adopter, Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), and his wife, Liv Lo Golding. They are the sweetest couple! They were introduced to START Rescue by actress Olivia Munn who is a well-known animal lover. Now, you can see Stella, a blue pitbull all over the gossip magazines with her new family! It took her 15 months of boarding with START to finally be awarded this jackpot prize. Proof that good things come to those that wait.
